Myrna Johnson's Life Group Testimony
I started attending CHCC in February 2008.  After a few months, I felt ready to take part in a small group to get cross in center with 'share your faith journey' on top of it
better acquainted and more connected with my new church family. I became part of a group of 7 women, "The Gamewell Life Group".  We all seemed to bond quickly, showing care, support, comfort, and understanding to each other.  Like myself, my new friends are widows, therefore they have similar life challenges. They have been so supportive through my family losses the past 2 years, health issues, and helping me to keep stretching, be determined and have more confidence to stay focused on the challenges God has given me.

INDIA - By Ben Williams
map of india
I have always felt for other people.  I think it helps to know there are people interested in helping them.  Sunil had always told me I should go to India. So I asked myself what would it be like to go to India and see what their needs are.  It was a question I wanted to answer.

When we were in India I got to give a six or seven year old boy his FIRST pair of shoes and pray for him.  Can you imagine not having shoes until you are seven?  That boy had a smile that made it all worthwhile.  I also gave some money to Truthseekers.

On this trip my eye's had been opened.  When you see disabled people you feel sorry for them, but that is  nothing compared to some of the people in India.  Some people in India are so crippled that they have to use their feet as arms. Some people are hit over and over again for no reason.  In America you don't see that in public, but I did in India.

Going to India showed me how blessed we are here and they need people over here to care for them.

After the economy plummeted sharply in the fall of 2008, we were out of work for about 10 or more months.   We wanted to share what God has done during this stressful and trying time.  God repeatedly showed us that there is no security in things of this world and the only thing we can find security in is Him.  We believed we were doing the right things financially.  We had a good sized savings account along with a retirement account.  We owned some land that we also viewed as a savings account that we believed we could sell fairly quickly if the need ever arose.  The only way we could have been more prepared is to have had nothing financed.   We tried to sell our home in hopes of cashing in on some equity to get us by, but because it was unfinished the banks said that we couldn’t sell it (banks don’t like to finance unfinished homes even if there is a buyer).  We were then told that we were unable to refinance our home because it had been for sale in the last 6 months. So not only could we not sell (unless we bulldozed down the new addition), but we also could not refinance.  The door closed.

Testimony by Delores Pattee

In 2 Samuel 22:4 it says “I shall call upon the Lord to whom all praise is due and I shall be delivered from my enemies.

As some of you know my husband died almost three years ago.   That is a very traumatic time and you can become very vulnerable.  As time went by I began to feel that I should be dealing with the grief better than I was. So I asked several people in the same position for advice.  They were very kind but nothing changed for me.  More time went by and if anything I felt more weighed down.  I asked guidance from professionals.  They were very kind but nothing changed for me.  Now mind you, I am praying, asking for strength, guidance, direction and purpose.  Praising God and knowing there is a plan and purpose for all that happens.  But nothing is changing for me.

Share Your Faith Journey

alt
God's love surrounds us all the time.  There are times when we go through struggles that challenge us and break our heart.  But, He sustains and carries us through those dark times and promises hope and a plan for our life. The following testimony from Ruth Pliska testifies to God's promise that He keeps His promise to "never leave us nor forsake us."

God is good!  He has always been a part of my life but a much bigger presence in times of losing family members - especially losing my three sons from 1986-1996 and my husband of 53 years in 1997. God gave me acceptance and the strength to go on with  my life serving him whenever I could. In 2001 he brought me  from California to Washington and to Cooks Hill Community Church where Dick and I met in Bible Study (Revelation), fell in love and were married four years ago.
