I have lived all my life in the Centralia area. My parents, Les and Gertie Tupper, owned a dairy farm where the steam plant now sits. We moved west of Chehalis to another farm when the steam plant was built. I have seven brothers and sisters, 6 of which attended college. I myself attended Centralia College and Saint Martin’s College where I received my degree in Education.
I am married to Ron Johnson and together we have four children. Our oldest son Patrick and his wife Shawna have blessed us with a now two year old grandson, Logan, and have one more in the planning stages for next year.
After my children were raised I went back to work and took a position with Head Start. At this time I also went back to college working on a master’s degree in child development with a focus on brain development. From Head Start I moved to a job where my primary focus was child care recruitment and assisting childcare centers with licensing issues. I had offices in Ilwaco, South Bend and Aberdeen, all of which I found myself visiting several times a week. I was away from home and on the road more than I wanted to be.
I also had inside information about most of the child care centers on the west side of the state so I knew that Cooks Hill Childcare was and is one of the best around. When I discovered that they were hiring I jumped at the chance to work here. I happily took a job changing approximately 44 diapers a day.
Aside from the above information I think the most important thing about me is I am a born again Christian. My earliest memories are of Jesus, Sunday school, church family, and the importance of putting God first in my life. When I was asked to write something about myself for the church newsletter I was somewhat at a loss as I have no dramatic testimony story. I praise God every day and am thankful for my life and my parents who honored God and were examples to their children. I am thankful that I can say ‘I don’t remember a time from my earliest recollections that I didn’t love Jesus’. Thank you for your continued prayers, Ronda Johnson
