From Pastor Mitch
In Proverbs 3:9 it says “Honor the LORD with your wealth, with the first fruits of all your crops”.  Bringing first fruits to God is a way of keeping our priorities in proper order.  The Ten Commandments begin by telling us not to have any other gods before the Lord our God.  Many things have the potential to be a god in our lives - our time, pleasure, work, finances, relationships etc.  Therefore, it is important to avoid any type of idolatry and honor God in every way we can.  I have learned some important areas to give the first fruits to God.  First of all – honor God with the first fruits of your income. Secondly, honor God with the first fruits of your day.  Takewoman praying
time every morning and sow it as a first fruit to God.  Spend some time talking to God.  Tell God you love him and desire to honor Him with your day.  Do this and I believe your day will bear greater fruit.  Thirdly, honor God with the first fruits of your week in corporate worship.  I believe it is critical for Christians to sow the seed of obedience by regularly attending corporate worship with other believers.  Fourthly, sow the first fruits of your talents and service to God.  Along with the time you spend in the work place why not give the first fruits of your service to God.  Serve God in some way at the local church as part of the body of Christ.  Touch a child’s life by teaching Sunday school, working in the youth department or being a mentor for a day care child.  There are many, many ways to serve in our local church and community.  Why not give it a try?  Sow the first fruits to God and see if your life begins to bear greater fruit than ever before.  The Christ life is the abundant life!!  You can count on it!!  Blessings, Pastor Mitch
