Earth is not our Home
We have had a number of our beloved saints go on to their heavenly Home recently.  It is always a bittersweet time.  We miss them being here with us, but have the assurance we will see them again in eternity.  The words of John 14:1-3 bring comfort to those facing death and to those whose loved one has "gone on".  Jesus spoke these words to His disciples to give them comfort and hope: "Do not let your hearts be troubled.  Trust in God; trust also in me.  In my Father's house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you.  I am going there to prepare a place for you.  And If I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am."

For Christians, this world is not our home.  We are just "passing through".  This brief time we spend here on this earth is but a speck in the grand continuum of "time".  However, we are called to make the most of the time, however long or short it may be, by growing in Christ and being His ambassadors--His hands and feet--and to make the most of every opportunity we are given to share the wonderful Gospel.

Easter will soon be here.  Do you know Christ as your personal Savior?  Or, do you just know Him as a prophet, a teacher, a religious man?  Is your knowledge of Christ confined to "head knowledge"?  If that is the case, you will miss Heaven by about 16 inches--the distance from your head to your heart.  Jesus said in John 14:6"I am the way, and the truth, and the life.  No one comes to the Father except through me."
The Bible says in Acts 4:12:  "There is salvation in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among mortals by which we must be saved."  Our sins separate us from our Holy God.  It is only through accepting the finished work of Christ on the cross--when He took our sins upon Himself and suffered our penalty--that we can enter heaven. This is a gift offered to everyone.  But, like any gift, it must be accepted to be yours.

If you don't know Jesus as your personal Savior, this is a wonderful time to make that step of faith.  Spring is a time of new beginnings.  A simple prayer in faith can begin your new life.  Here's all you have to say:
  • Admit you are a sinner.
  • Tell Jesus you are sorry for your sins.
  • Ask Him to forgive your sins.
  • Thank Him for taking the penalty of your sins on Himself at the cross.
  • Invite Him into your heart to rule and reign.
If you have prayed to receive Christ, share this great news with a pastor or other Christian friend.

Happy Easter!  Happy Resurrection Sunday!
